Dr. Harold Robles, Founder of the Medical Knowledge Institute, honored with Dutch Royal Decoration

Oostvoorne, May 7th 2009 – On behalf of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands Dr. Harold Robles was appointed Knight in the Order of Oranje-Nassau last Wednesday, April 29th. Mr. Robles received the Dutch Royal Decoration by Major Peter de Jong as a token of appreciation and recognition from society for the special way in which he has carried out his various national and international activities.

On an international level Mr. Robles has established a lot of successful projects with the Medical Knowledge Institute, an international non-profit organization dedicated to healthcare education and healthcare information as a human right. The programs of MKI are designed to improve the quality and humanitarian values of life, especially in developing countries. MKI provides medical related trainings and workshops to local healthcare workers. It can draw from a worldwide pool of medical experts. Lack of knowledge and limited access to information on for instance HIV/AIDS is the cause of many problems, like the birth of HIV infected children. Providing educational programs for healthcare workers is one of the initiatives of the Medical Knowledge Institute to combat opportunistic diseases.

Within the Netherlands Mr. Robles is very much honored for his strong dedication as chairman of the Oranje Committee Oostvoorne (from 2000 to 2007) and Chairman of the Memorial Foundation for War Victims of the Second World War in the city of Oostvoorne. From his strong belief that ‘We should never forget’ he succeeded in involving the youth of Oostvoorne to the memorial ceremonies by giving inspiring presentations at their schools.

Baron G. Kraijenhoff, honorary Chairman of MKI informed the audience at the town hall in the city of Rockanje: “The enthusiasm of Harold Robles is infectious. If you get infected, it will be there forever and there is no cure. I strongly hope that there will never be found a vaccine.”
